Classic Pecan Pie

  • Prep Time: 20 min
  • Cook Time: 60 min
  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 9" pie 1x

Description

A super simple recipe for classic pecan pie.  Sweet and crunchy filling nestled in a buttery flaky crust, a perfect holiday favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 single pie crust, unbaked (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and browned
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped (optional: additional whole pecans for topping)

Instructions

  • Prepare the single pie crust dough according to recipe directions.  Roll out to about 1/4″ thick and place into a 9 inch pie dish.  Crimp or finish the edges as desired.  Place prepared pie crust into the freezer for 30 min while you make the filling.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl whisk together eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, salt and cinnamon.  Whisk in the melted browned butter.  Stir in chopped pecans.  Pour filling into prepared pie crust.  If desired, decoratively arrange whole pecans around the top of the pie.
  • Place pie on a cookie sheet for easier movement to and from the oven.  Place on the center rack in the preheated oven.  Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the edges of the filling are set but the center has a slight jiggle.  Place pie on a wire rack and allow to cool completely before cutting into.  For best results allow pie to cool overnight or place in the fridge for several hours.
